The Food Bank Network of Somerset County

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of food is distributed?
A: Recipients receive non-perishable foods which include canned and dried portions of soup, milk, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, pasta, tomato sauce, peanut butter, jelly and cereal. If inventory permits, bread and perishables are also provided.
Q: Where should food contributions be delivered?
A: The warehouse is at 9E Easy Street, in the Middle Brook Industrial Park, off Chimney Rock Road between Routes 22 and 28 in Bridgewater. Contributions are received from 9am - 2:30pm Monday through Friday.
Q: Is a food bank really necessary in Somerset County, one of the wealthiest counties in the Untied States?
A: Since the Food Bank opened in 1982, the number of people it serves has increased steadily. Many recipients have recently lost jobs or suffered a devastating illness - people who "never dreamed they'd be at a food bank."
Q: Where is food distributed?
A: Food is distributed every Saturday from 10AM until 11:30AM from two pantries located at United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville; and Hope Church, 519 East Main St., Bound Brook. On the last two Saturdays of each month, a pantry is open from 10AM until 12 Noon at the Vermuele Community Center, Greenbrook Rd., North Plainfield.
Q: Is the Food Bank Network of Somerset County associated with any other Food Bank?
A: No. There are a number of food banks serving communities in New Jersey, many with confusingly similar names, but we are not associated with any other organization.
Q: How can I help?
A: See our How can I help? page.
