Backpack food programs provide nutritious, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to children to help ensure they have enough to eat on weekends and school holidays, when they cannot rely on school meals.

Through our in-school distribution program at schools throughout Somerset County, children enrolled in the National School Lunch Program receive additional meals and snacks to take home for the weekend. Food is distributed discreetly to participating students to maintain dignity and privacy. The program continues throughout the summer months at participating distribution sites.
